Welcome to Emerald City MCC Seattle (ECMCC)! We were founded in 1972 as the first congregation in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest by and for the LGBTIQ community and our families and allies.
Forty years later, our community still needs a truly comfortable, authentic, welcoming spiritual home. Perhaps you are like many of us, leaving our original churches when it became clear that, as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer Christians, we were unwelcome.
Some of our churches condemned us, some excommunicated us, some ignored us. Now, as other mainline churches have grown up and reopened their doors to the LGBTIQ, Emerald City MCC continues to meet because we preach and teach a radical inclusivity and a desire for radical change in the world not found elsewhere. We who worship here know that this church is where we meet the Divine and where the Divine meets us as we strive to co-create with God and bring God’s dominion on earth.
ECMCC preaches a Christ centered, progressive theology, where we respect and value each person’s spiritual path. It is our desire to journey with people from across the commonwealth of God’s creation and to welcome anyone who wishes to worship with us. It is our sincere desire to worship with people from diverse faith traditions in order to have a more fully inclusive understanding of the Divine.
Here at ECMCC we believe that God created you, loves you and intended to include all of who you are in the community and dance of life. We strive to create a spiritual home and safe space that intentionally seeks to include and reflect all of God’s people. All who come to ECMCC are invited to join us in the desire and practice of living into the Gospel of Jesus Christ that both transforms our own lives and the lives of those around us.
